What is DoshaFit®?

DoshaFit® is a merger between Ayurvedic medicine and modern exercise science.

DoshaFit® is a multi-dimensional approach to health.  Using ancient Ayurvedic principles of body-mind typing and discerning mental attributes in the person, we are able to create exercise and lifestyle programs that not only make the person fitter and stronger, but may also help with creating wellness in other areas of their lives.

Ayurveda is an ancient healing art. It is over 5000 years old, originates in india, and is one of the sister sciences of Yoga. Ayurveda looks at the person in a very individualized way. Just like other healing modalities Ayurveda recognizes that our bodies and minds are made up of diefferent elements which have a certain set of qualities. These elements are space, air, fire, water, and earth. In Ayurveda we call them Doshas.

This is where the name DoshaFit® stems from.

Fitness and lifestyle individualized taking into consideration your physical and mental make up, your Dosha. To be able to train and eat effectively we first have to find out what a person’s Dosha is so we can find the right approach in nutrition and exercise that will produce the best results and makes reaching ones goals easy.

What does the DoshaFit® Logo mean?

doshafit_logo_symbol_redbluThe DoshaFit® symbol is the Lotus, a flower that grows on water and ponds. A flower that can literally grow from mud and murk and unfolds it’s delicious beauty as it opens to the world.

I thought this was a fitting example of taking what we have and know, our circumstances, and turning it into something amazingly beautiful.

The colours of the logo represent the three Ayurvedic Doshas, with some unique interpretation.

The green petal of the Lotus represents the Vata Dosha, the quality of space and air, the wind. Green is also the colour of the lushness of our planet, the irresistible life-force that has to thrive, live, and break through.

The red petal of the Lotus represents the Pitta Dosha, the quality of fire and water. Red is the colour of fierceness, power, love and passion. Red is vitality and raw hot energy. Red is the blood, our heart pulse and deepest desire.

The blue petal of the Lotus represents the Kapha Dosha, the quality of water and earth. Blue is the colour of the sky and of deep blue waters.  Blue is the colour of the ocean. Blue is calming, it is vastness, wisdom, and serenity.
